World Harness Racing is a book dedicated to the harness racing industry worldwide – its great people and its wonderful horses. The book concept was conceived by the publisher to tie in with the 2017 World Trotting Conference and the fifth leg of the World Driving Championship, both held in Prince Edward Island, Canada in the summer of 2017.
The harness racing governing bodies of Canada (Standardbred Canada), United States (USTA), New Zealand, Australia, France, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Spain (partial), Italy, South Africa, United Kingdom (partial) and Russia have sent us photos, historical information and their selections for three driving legends/stars of harness racing of their respective countries. Each country has its own mini-chapter in the book.

Some of the legends :
Joe O’Brien was born in Alberton, Prince Edward Island in 1917. He died in 1984. Canada’s top honours in harness racing, the O’Brien Awards, bear his name, and are synonymous with excellence.
Stanley Dancer was the first North American driver to record $1 million in purse winnings over a single season in 1964.
Stig H. Johansson, born in 1945, is known to be the most successful trainer/driver in Sweden since the mid-1970s.
Mikhail Kozlov is a master-driver of the international class at the Moscow Hippodrome and has the best performance among all drivers in its 183-year history.
Jean-Michel Bazire has captured 17 French champion driver titles since his first in 1997 and the 46-year-old has long been a member of France’s Trotting Hall of Fame.
